The Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission confer “The Automobile and Parts Export Base” on Guangzhou as its automobile manufacturing industry is one of the three biggest industries. So far, there are three automobile industry bases formed in Guangzhou. One is Guangzhou Northwest Huadu Automobile City, one is Guangzhou East Automobile Industry Zone, another one is Guangzhou South Nansha International Automobile City. Expecting the automobile producing bases mentioned above, also base on Junwei bus, Isuzu Guangzhou and Yangcheng Automobile, the commercial vehicles base is formed in Guangzhou.

The Automobile production and sales volume was close to 1,700,000 in 2013, which is increase by 22% compared to that in 2012.
